The technology of flat (< ¼” thick) panel lighting produces the life performance of Light Emitting Diode (LED) @> 30,000 hours at the cost of Compact Fluorescent (CFL) while providing flood lighting equivalent to incandescent but at the efficiency of CFL.
The technology innovation now been commercialized by Lumiette is that of manufacturing a flat fluorescent reflector lamp or Flat Panel Lamp (FPL) that will provide unique architectural lighting solution never before available. Additionally the technology when incorporated into products that replace incandescent reflector lamps like PAR38, PAR30, R40 etc, will produce superior products due to its thin profile and inherent reflector design.
Simply put, the lamp is made by sealing two very thin glass plates together. The bottom plate is flat and coated to reflect the majority of light generated through the front plate of glass. The front plate of glass is vacuum formed to create channels or tubes that when coated with phosphor generates fluorescent light. Additionally the lamp does not have internal electrodes or filaments like incandescent and fluorescent lamps, which ultimately determine the life and performance of those old product technologies. FPL lamps have external electrodes that allow for infinite on/off cycles with no impact on life or performance. With external electrodes the FPL technology can easily be dimmed with standard incandescent wall dimmers produced after 1980.
Lumiette presently has a 40,000 sq ft automated production facility. Additionally multiple sizes are easily manufactured by a simple change to the vacuum forming tooling. Lumiette can easily provide lighting solutions unavailable from any other lighting manufacture worldwide.
